Rattlewise — Noise & Vibration Finder ("the App") is published by Bulpara Inc ("we", "us", "our"). This policy describes how we handle information when you use the App. The short version: Rattlewise collects no personal data, runs entirely on your device, and has no servers, no accounts, and no ads.
1. Microphone Audio & Motion Data
- Your microphone audio and motion data never leave your device. All analysis — the live FFT spectrum, peak tracking, the tone sweep, and the accelerometer confirm — runs on-device.
- The App does not record, upload, transmit, stream, or store your microphone audio. Audio is processed in real time to compute a frequency spectrum and is not saved as a recording.
- Motion (accelerometer) data is used only while you hold your phone against a panel to confirm which part is buzzing. It is processed live and is not transmitted off-device.
- Before/after proof reports and saved hunts store only the measurements (frequencies, magnitudes in dB, your notes) — never raw audio.
2. Data We Store Locally
- Saved hunts & history: Measured peaks, before/after spectra, confidence-ranked culprits, the vehicle or space you assigned, timestamps, and any notes you add. Stored locally via SwiftData.
- Proof reports: Generated PDFs or images live in the App's sandbox until you delete them or share them.
- Preferences: Default sweep range, units, theme, and notification settings.
- Purchase status: Subscription state is managed by Apple's StoreKit and cached locally for feature gating.
3. Permissions We Request
- Microphone: Required to measure sound in the room and detect the rattle's frequency. Used only while a live "find the buzz" session is active — never in the background or while the App is closed.
- Motion & Fitness (accelerometer): Optional. Used only during a session when you press your phone against a panel to confirm structure-borne vibration. No fitness or health data is collected.
- Notifications (optional): Used only to remind you to re-measure after a fix, if you opt in. You can disable this in iOS Settings.
4. Third-Party Services
The App uses only one third-party service:
- Apple App Store / StoreKit: Manages subscriptions and purchases. Governed by Apple's privacy policy.
The App contains no advertising SDKs, no analytics, and no third-party trackers.
5. Data Storage and Security
- All hunts, reports, history, and preferences are stored locally on your device.
- No audio, motion data, measurements, or device-identifiable content is transmitted to or stored on our servers. We have no servers that hold user data.
- Purchase verification uses Apple's secure StoreKit framework.
- The App's core measurement, diagnosis, and proof features work completely offline.
6. Data Sharing
We do not sell your personal data, and we have no personal data to sell. We do not share your measurements or reports with any third party. When you choose to share a before/after report via the iOS share sheet (Messages, Mail, AirDrop, Files, etc.), you control where it goes — we do not see it.
7. Your Rights
You can:
- Delete individual hunts and proof reports from the History tab inside the App
- Delete the App to remove all local hunts, reports, history, and preferences
- Disable the Microphone, Motion, and Notifications permissions from iOS Settings at any time

8. Children's Privacy
The App is rated 4+ and is not intended to collect data from children under 13. Because the App does not collect personal data, this is enforced by design.
